The Art of Movement – Molding the Ballerina

Creating the ballerina piece in the OTILYAS studio is not just about crafting jewelry — it’s about sculpting emotion, movement, and memory into form.

The process begins with a sketch — a single line that captures the grace of a dancer mid-pose. But translating that moment into metal takes layers of attention. First, the ballerina is broken down into parts: head and arms lifted in fluid form, torso elongated, legs poised, and then — the most magical touch — the delicate tutu, molded as a separate element.

Each component is hand-sculpted in wax, allowing for endless adjustment and detail before it’s cast in metal. The tutu? It’s molded twice, ensuring a lightness and volume that mimics fabric in motion. Once cast, every detail is meticulously filed, refined, and assembled by hand — turning separate parts into a seamless expression of balance and beauty.

But what truly brings her to life is not the perfection — it’s the imperfections. The subtle asymmetry of movement, the human touch in every curve, the slight tension in her poised stance — this is what transforms the ballerina from a charm to a wearable sculpture.

At OTILYAS, every ballerina is a one-of-a-kind tribute to strength, elegance, and the joy of expression. She is more than a pendant — she’s a piece of a story, captured forever in metal.
