Gold-plated jewelry needs a light hand. These notes are for Wearable art. Fine jewelry is solid gold — still treat it gently.
Wear
Take gold-plated pieces off before shower, sea, pool, or sport.
Put perfume, lotion, and makeup on first. Let them dry. Then put the jewelry on.
Sweat, water, and friction wear the gold layer.
Clean
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after you wear it.
No toothpaste, no polish, no ultrasonic cleaner, no soap soak.
Store
Keep each piece dry and separate — its own pouch or box — so it does not rub.
Do not leave plated jewelry in a bathroom or by a window in the sun.
Fine jewelry
Solid gold is stronger than plating. Still wipe it, and keep it off chlorine, the sea, and harsh cleaners when you can.
